ZURICH YOUNG PORTRAIT PRIZE 2019

A Celebration of Young Talent

For the first time the Zurich Portrait Prize includes a special competition focussed on young artists in Ireland. The prize aims to promote and inspire self-expression and creativity among the young people in Ireland The exhibition will showcase works by artists from the ages of 3 to 18.

“It is wonderful to see The Zurich Young Portrait Prize come to fruition. This presents a unique opportunity for young people of all ages and abilities to display their talents in portraiture. This new competition marks an exciting addition to the already highly regarded Zurich Portrait Prize.” - Brian Hunt, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Zurich.

This year’s winners will receive a personalised wooden box of high-quality art materials, specific to their choice of material in their portrait, and a cash prize of €500.

This year’s 20 talented finalists, in the categories ages 6 and under, ages 7-11, ages 12-15 and ages 16-18. The Zurich Young Portrait Prize 2019 judges are the National Gallery of Ireland Head Curator, Brendan Rooney, young artist, Hetty Lawlor and photographer, Perry Ogden.

This is the first year the Zurich Portrait Prize and Zurich Young Portrait Prize will travel to Cork from 31 January until 13 April 2020.
